Jak is a gorgeous Siamese cat who came to us as an un unclaimed stray. Jak loved the time he spent at his foster home and adjusted quite well to life as a pampered indoor cat. His hobbies include lounging on fancy rugs, comfy couches and really anywhere he sees fit. Jak came in to our onsite Companion Animal Hospital for a neuter and dental to remove some broken teeth. Unfortunately, during his time living outside Jak contracted FIV. FIV or Feline Immunodeficiency Virus is transmitted from cats to cats through deep bite wounds and is one of the many health concerns that can affect outdoor cats. Cats with FIV can live happy, healthy, normal lives if they are kept indoors (to limit the spread of FIV and their exposure to other illnesses), fed a nutritionally balanced diet and have their health monitored by their loving family with recommended visits to their vet. Since FIV is transmitted through deep bite wounds, cats that live harmoniously together have little risk of passing the virus to their housemates. Jak hasn't liked the change going from comfy foster to busy shelter and is acting quite shy here with us. Some cats don't show well in this environment so we have included some pictures from his foster on his profile to show what his new family can look forward to.
