Wiggle Wagon
All Aboard the HBSPCA Wiggle Wagon!
The newest and most innovative initiative of the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA is the Wiggle Wagon, a state-of-the-art animal shelter on wheels. The vehicle is 26' long and contains 26 clean and roomy kennels to transport animals. Animals on the HBSPCA Wiggle Wagon are truly Riding Furst Class!
Our territory includes Hamilton, Burlington, Stoney Creek, Ancaster, Flamborough and Dundas. The Wiggle Wagon will help us bring the shelter to you.
The HBSPCA will use the Wiggle Wagon in a variety of ways:
- Adoptions: Interested in adopting an animal? Check out where the Wiggle Wagon is parked and who's on it via our Facebook or Twitter pages. Meet us there and complete the adoption! Adoptions on the Wiggle Wagon will meet the same expectations as adoptions in the shelter so prepare to spend at least 1 hour with us to complete the paperwork.
- Awareness: How can the HBSPCA help you, your family and your pets? In a hundred different ways! From summer camp, to Community Assistance Spay/Neuter, to obedience training - Learn about our programs and services on the Wiggle Wagon at an event near you.
- Protection: It is an unfortunate reality that our Animal Protections officers deal with hoarding situations on a regular basis. The Wiggle Wagon contains 26 kennels and can support our officers to rescue the animals quickly and safely.
- Spay/Neuter: The HBSPCA already supports the community by offering Community Assistance Spay/Neuter services to individuals and families with limited incomes, however the location of the shelter is not convenient for many pet parents who could benefit from the program. Coming this Summer, we will use the Wiggle Wagon as a pet taxi service to transport animals from specific locations in our community to the shelter for surgery and back to the pick-up location at the end of the day.
- Education: Coming this Fall, we'll be taking our show to schools where we'll begin to develop respect, compassion and empathy for all living creatures in our children and youth. From the correct way to pet a dog to understanding animal cruelty, there's plenty for our kids to learn about animals and the mandate of the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA.
