*** Now Taking Applications***Bonded with her brother Grizzly***Edwina would do best in a home with children 14 years or older and she is generally good with other dogs . Edwina is a sweet girl with lots of love to offer her new family. She is a VERY shy girl though and will need the proper family who can boost her confidence and socialize her. A calm quiet home is a must for her. Anyone meeting her should simply ignore him and allow her the time she needs to get use to that person. Reaching out to pet her or have her sniff your hand by sticking it in her face is NOT the safe or recommended method. It will likely take her quite a while to get comfortable with someone. (weeks!!!)Each exposure should be a positive one and adopters will have to utilize common sense in knowing what situations will leave her with a positive experience and which situations will be too much for her to handle. His fear should not be babied or coddled. He needs an adopter who will emulate confidence and reward his moments of bravery. To force her into situations that will be too scary for her will be disaster. If too scared she may run off, supervision and security is very important. Included in her file is reading material on adopting a shy dog for adopters to read over. Obedience classes are highly recommended for this girl to boost her confidence in a controlled environment. Crate training is also advised to keep her safe and to assist with housebreaking. As with any dog, rules and structure are a must. Edwina will make a wonderful companion for adopters with lots of love to offer her. Supervision around children and other pets is a must.
