Home Again Keeps Pets & Their Loving Families Together!

The Home Again program funded by PetSmart Charities of Canada is making a difference in the lives of pets and their parents in Hamilton.

Pet companions belonging to older and isolated people requiring hospital care are fostered by Zachary’s Paws for Healing. And the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA (HBSPCA) provides health checks and more to those fostered pets needing some extra TLC. Patients and pets are reunited at home together and thriving!

Last week Donna Jenkins arrived at the shelter with 2 Westies. Their owner was unexpectedly admitted to hospital and Donna, founder of Zachary’s Paws for Healing was fostering the pair – Bonnie and Tessie. The girls were examined by Dr. Jenn Farr and her Team at the HBSPCA Companion Animal Hospital. And none too soon. Bonnie was living with joint pain and suffering from dry eye. Tessie’s skin was inflamed, she was missing hair on her legs and belly, and had an ear infection.

Bonnie and Tessie were treated, and sent home to foster care with supplements, medications and ointments for improved health. Both girls were dewormed and vaccines were updated.

The HBSPCA Team and Zachary’s Paws for Healing wanted to say a special thank you to PetSmart Charities of Canada for helping us keep people and pets together, and thriving!
