Dog Training: Level Two
Ready to take your dog’s training to the next level? Join us for the Level Two K9 Principles Training Course! This 7-week interactive program builds on foundational skills and focuses on advanced training techniques, including impulse control, hand signals, and more. Strengthen the bond with your dog while mastering essential skills for everyday situations and challenges.
Eligibility:
1. Vaccinations
Just to make sure we are on the same page and there are no surprises, we follow the recommended vaccination protocol from the Ontario Veterinary College. All dogs entering a group class must be up to date with rabies, parvovirus, distemper, and Bordetella (kennel cough). Puppies not old enough to receive certain vaccines are exempted. This is for your dog's well-being and safety but also the safety and well-being of all the dogs entering the class including dogs that they live with. We will need to verify this before starting your class.
2. Age
All canine's must be at least 12 weeks of age or older to join this program.
3. Prerequisites
Dogs must have completed Level One training or demonstrate equivalent foundational skills.
What to Expect:
1. Weekly Training Sessions:
Over the course of 7 weeks, you and your dog will engage in hands-on training sessions, led by our experienced trainers. Each session will focus on building foundational skills that you can use in everyday situations, helping to improve your dog’s behavior and responsiveness.
2. Positive Reinforcement Techniques:
We believe in using positive reinforcement to guide your dog’s learning. You’ll be taught techniques that encourage good behavior through rewards, making the training experience enjoyable for both you and your dog.
3. Beyond Foundations, Into Advanced Techniques:
Over 7 weeks, you’ll explore new methods like impulse control, hand signals, and other advanced cues. Sessions are led by experienced trainers who provide personalized guidance. This course helps refine skills learned in Level One and introduces new challenges that encourage your dog’s responsiveness and focus.
4. Interactive Learning Environment:
Each session is interactive and engaging, with opportunities to practice what you’ve learned alongside other dogs and their owners. This environment helps your dog get accustomed to working around distractions, improving their focus in different settings.
5. Strengthen Your Bond:
This course is about more than just commands—it’s about creating a deeper connection with your dog. The skills you learn together will build trust, improve communication, and make daily interactions smoother and more enjoyable.
Course Curriculum:
Finish
Want to amaze your neighbours? A perfect around into heel position from your dog after your recall will have them envious.
Out-of-Sight Stays
If we told you that your dog would stay in their stay position as you left the room with other distractions happening to try and break the stay, would you believe us? It is possible and will be accomplished by week 7.
Heeling
We get fancy now and drop the leashes. Change of directions and pace will keep them on their toes with laser like focus. This makes walking in downtown Hamilton a piece of cake.
Distracted Recalls
Perfect recalls EVERY TIME even in the most distracting and enticing situations.
Non-Verbal Hand Signals
The head turner. People will be amazed as you signal your dog without a verbal cue from a distance and they respond instantly.
Stand for Exam
The perfect solution to keep them in position while you check them out.
Impulse Control
Gone are the days of darting after squirrels or lunging at passing cars. Your dog will master the art of impulse control, remainingcomposed and obedient even when faced with distractions that once caught their attention.
Focus
Nothing can happen without focus. They will learn to tune it all out and keep their eyes on you.
