Dog Training: Level Two

Join us for the Level Two K9 Principles Training Course! This 7-week interactive program builds on foundational skills and focuses on advanced training techniques, including impulse control, hand signals, and more. Strengthen your bond with your dog while mastering essential skills for everyday situations and challenges.

Eligibility

Vaccinations

  • We follow the recommended vaccination protocol from the Ontario Veterinary College.
  • All dogs entering a group class must be up to date with rabies, parvovirus, distemper, and Bordetella (kennel cough).
  • Puppies not old enough to receive certain vaccines are exempt.
  • Vaccination status must be verified before starting class.

Age

  • All dogs must be at least 12 weeks of age or older to join this program.

Prerequisites

  • Dogs must have completed Level One training or demonstrate equivalent foundational skills.

What to Expect

  • Weekly Training Sessions – Over 7 weeks, you and your dog will engage in hands-on training led by experienced trainers, refining skills for real-world scenarios.
  • Positive Reinforcement Techniques – We use reward-based training to encourage good behavior, making learning enjoyable for both you and your dog.
  • Advanced Techniques – You’ll explore impulse control, hand signals, and advanced cues, building on Level One skills while introducing new challenges.
  • Interactive Learning Environment – Practice training with other dogs and owners, helping your dog stay focused around distractions.
  • Strengthen Your Bond – Beyond commands, this course enhances trust, communication, and daily interactions with your dog.

Course Curriculum

  • Finish – A perfect recall into heel position that will impress everyone.
  • Out-of-Sight Stays – Teaching your dog to hold a stay position even when you leave the room, despite distractions.
  • HeelingOff-leash control with direction and pace changes for seamless city walks.
  • Distracted Recalls – Training for perfect recalls, even in the most enticing situations.
  • Non-Verbal Hand Signals – Mastering silent communication so your dog responds instantly without verbal cues.
  • Stand for Exam – Teaching your dog to stay still during check-ups and grooming.
  • Impulse Control – Stopping lunging, chasing, or darting after distractions like squirrels or cars.
  • Focus – Training your dog to ignore distractions and stay engaged with you.

  • $300 (includes all training materials, one-on-one guidance, and personalized advice).

  • Location: Classes are held at our HBSPCA training facility (free parking available).
  • What to Wear: Dress comfortably; closed-toed shoes required.
