Transportation
Ensuring Every Paw Has a Way!
A journey of care begins with a single step, or in our case, a joyous ride. HBSPCA is delighted to introduce our latest initiative – Pet Express: The HBSPCA Care Cruiser. With a sole purpose of making veterinary care as accessible as possible, we believe that neither distance nor transportation should ever be a barrier to your pet’s health.
Recognizing that many face transportation challenges, especially across sprawling regions, our free shuttle service steps in to bridge the distance. Serving areas including Flamborough, Ancaster, Waterdown, Stoney Creek, Dundas, and Burlington, our professionally trained volunteer drivers are on the move to make sure your beloved pets get the care they need.
How it works
Either our Pet Express Cruiser or third party transportation will be arranged for you and your large or small animal; the type of transportation greatly depends on availability. Transportation will be provided from your home (within our service areas), directly to our Companion Animal Hospital to drop your pet off for their appointment. While your pet is being seen, you will provided transportation directly home. Once your pet is ready to be picked up you will be safely driven directly back to our Companion Animal Hospital, and brought directly back home along with your pet.
Requirements
To qualify for transportation services, there are a few requirements you must meet to ensure the safety of both people and pets. This service is specifically offered for Spay or Neuter Appointments at the HBSPCA Companion Animal Hospital only.
After your appointment is confirmed you will be able to request a booking for this service. Please request a booking with 14 days notice to ensure ample time to arrange your ride. This notice period is crucial as we cannot guarantee service, but we will do our absolute best to accommodate your needs. Please note, the weight capacity for animals is 30kg.
Small animals are required to be in a carrier during transportation at all times (must supply your own carrier). Large animals are required to have either a collar or harshness attached to a leash and properly secured by their owners during transportation at all times. Owners, please ensure you have complete control over your animal during transportation for the safety of everyone involved and your beloved pet.

It's crucial to ensure you can safely transport your pet to the vehicle; please note that our current Pet Express Cruiser is not wheelchair accessible. If you require a vehicle that is wheelchair accessible, please make that note in your booking request and we will work to secure a third party transportation service that will meet all of your needs.
