It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bruce Murphy, a cherished and special member of the HBSPCA volunteer family on December 2, 2024 at the age of 75.Bruce and his late wife shared an extraordinary passion for the welfare of animals.
After losing his beloved wife and their family dog in 2022, Bruce reached out to the HBSPCA in the fall of 2023 to volunteer. He became an integral part of our Volunteer Recruitment Department, contributing immensely to our team and mission.Bruce was not only a dedicated volunteer but also the heart and soul of our Thursdays.
Known for his humor and playful spirit, he brightened our days with jokes and good-natured pranks. His thoughtful gestures, like sending flowers to inspire and uplift the team, demonstrated his kindness and generosity. Rain, shine, or snow, Bruce attended every volunteer networking event, always showing his unwavering support for our work.
He gave tirelessly of his time and talents, supporting multiple departments and sharing his wisdom with staff. Whether reminding us to stay safe during a snowstorm or lending a hand when he wasn’t feeling his best, Bruce was the epitome of dedication.In recognition of his incredible contributions, Bruce was honored at our inaugural Volunteer Recognition Evening with the Guardian Angel Award, a fitting tribute to his selfless spirit and unwavering commitment.
Bruce’s legacy will forever be part of the HBSPCA family. Bruce’s kindness, humor, and passion touched countless lives, and he will be deeply missed but never forgotten.Rest in peace, Bruce. You were truly one of a kind.
