A fun-filled day at the HBSPCA!

On March 27th, the HBSPCA welcomed a group of special guests to our shelter - the 8th Ancaster Embers! It was our first official Community Youth Day event since the pandemic began, and we couldn't have been more excited to host it. Our mission for the day was to create momentum around community engagement and provide opportunities for young people to interact with the animals in our shelter.

During their visit, the Embers learned about our Pet Food Pantry Program and how donations impact the pets and people in our community. They even rolled up their sleeves and helped us bag and portion over 50 bags of dog food that were distributed to those in need at our community outreach day on March 30th. We're so grateful for their enthusiasm and willingness to lend a hand!

Of course, no visit to the HBSPCA would be complete without some quality time with our furry friends. The Embers enjoyed meeting and playing with a beautiful pooch and even got creative by colouring in some dog paws to add colour to our shelter walls.

We're thrilled to start opening our doors to groups like the 8th Ancaster Embers again and inspiring the next generation of animal advocates through our education programming.

Keep your eyes peeled for more kid-friendly events and activities from the HBSPCA in the coming year. As always, if you have any questions or would like to get involved, please reach out to us at humaneeducation@hbspca.com.

It takes a lot of heart to make a difference. You can help.
